For a petrol motorcycle under the learner approved motorcycle scheme (LAMS), what is the maximum engine capacity a restricted class 6 rider may use, provided the specific motorcycle is LAMS-approved?
The maximum is 660 cc, but the actual model and condition must meet LAMS requirements.

Not all motorcycles up to 660 cc qualify. NZTA includes motorcycles manufactured before 1960 with an engine capacity of 660 cc or less in its approved categories. For other 251–660 cc motorcycles, check the approved model list and exact specification; some motorcycles of 250 cc or less are prohibited. Modifications that increase the power-to-weight ratio affect approval. Electric motorcycles have separate approval requirements.
