For a standard-width vehicle, how much extra width beyond the normal maximum is allowed solely for load-securing fasteners?

Fasteners must fit within the applicable width limit. Exclusions for specified mirrors, lights or hubodometers do not extend to them. The usual maximum is 2.55 metres; permitted overdimension operations are outside this question.
